چکیده

There is a wide range of biomarkers that can be used in population-based molecular epidemiological studies of cancer. These include biomarkers of exposure, intermediate endpoints (e.g., biomarkers of early biological effect), disease, and susceptibility (1-7) (Fig. l). Hypothesis-driven biomarkefs have been used for many years in molecular epidemiology studies of cancer (e.9., measurement of xenobiotics and endogenous carcinogens, macromolecular adducts, cytogenetic endpoints in cultured lymphocytes, DNA mutations in tumor suppressor genes, and phenotypic and genotypic measures of genetic variation in candidate genes). Perhaps the most revolutionary change that has occurred in molecular epidemiology in the past several years has been the emergence of discovery technologies that can been incorporated into a variety of study designs and include genome-wide scans of common genetic variants, messenger RNA (mRNA) and microRNA expression rurays, proteomics, and metabolomics (also referred to as metabonomics) (8-14). These approaches are allowing investigators to explore biological

Molecular Epidemiology and Surveillance Program in Iran: Present Status and Future Prospect

Background and aims: The food-borne pathogens appear to be a reemerging and endless problem inthe human community all over the world. Hence, all the outbreaks should be constantly monitored forpandemic strains and new mutant genotypes. The main purpose behind the molecular typing methodsis the comparison of bacterial isolates to obtain genomic relatedness regarding epidemiolog...

Bias and confounding in molecular epidemiological studies: special considerations.

Studies in the field of ‘molecular epidemiology’ are becoming common in the literature. This use of molecular-biological laboratory techniques in epidemiological research has some consequences that deserve specific attention, including the potential for some particular forms of bias. Most of the bias in epidemiological research, at large, occurs because of imperfect sampling or classification p...

Effective Design of a 3×4 Two Dimensional Distributed Amplifier Based on Gate Line Considerations

In this paper two dimensional wave propagation is used for power combining in drain nodes of a distributed amplifier (DA). The proposed two dimensional DA uses an electrical funnel to add the currents of drain nodes. The proposed structure is modified due to gate lines considerations. Total gain improvement is achieved by engineering the characteristic impedance of gate lines and also make appr...

Thermal Design Considerations and Performance Evaluation of Cryogenic Tube in Tube Heat Exchangers

Heat exchangers are the most important equipment in refrigeration processes. Design and modeling of heat exchangers operating at low temperatures are different from other regular heat exchangers. This study includes two sections. In the first section, design and modeling considerations needed for evaluating the real thermal behavior of heat exchangers at low temperatures were discussed. The...
